IRN-BRU have added to a deluge of online criticism of Noel Gallagher after the former Oasis star said Scotland “is like a third world country”.
The singer’s comments also prompted a declaration of love for the country by younger brother Liam.
The official Twitter account of Scotland’s favourite soft drink reacted by announcing that Gallagher had been “cancelled”.
The term “cancel” has been popularised online by Scottish comedian Limmy, among others, to mark a fall from grace by public figures.

The social media saga began when the elder Gallagher started a spat with Lewis Capaldi, making a point of saying he had never heard of the chart-topping Scottish singer during an interview with Radio X.
Capaldi subsequently played footage of the statement as he walked on stage at Glastonbury while wearing a bucket hat and jacket that have become synonymous with Gallagher.

Speaking to Variety subsequently, Gallagher said: “F****** Chewbacca should enjoy his 15 minutes.
“The greatest day of his life that I slagged him off or called him an idiot.
“It’s the greatest day of his f****** life so far. He’s just thinking ‘wow’.
“Well, I know you’re Scottish and all that but f****** hell. It is like a third world country but for f***’s sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely.”
Capaldi responded by switching his profile picture on Twitter to an image of his face edited on to an image of Chewbacca and changed his name on the site to Chewis Capaldi.

But it was Gallagher’s “third world” comments which garnered the most attention online.

Former SNP MSP and Scottish Parliament presiding officer Tricia Marwick added: “Noel Gallagher isn’t even yesterday’s man. I always preferred Liam anyway. And Lewis Capaldi rocks, so my daughter and grandchildren tell me.”
One Welsh commenter stood up for Scotland.
“I’ve lived in England and I was born in Wales. There is no doubt in my mind that the Scottish NHS and Scottish education is streets ahead of Wales and England,” they tweeted.
“Noel Gallagher doesn’t know what he is talking about.”

The singer was branded a “bitter old man” by more than one social media user.
One reply read: “So Noel Gallagher has gone from a respected musician to a bitter old man.
“He can call Lewis Capaldi all he wants but he just keeps getting annihilated in return.”

Another person said: “Fair to say Lewis Capaldi has Noel Gallagher on toast, eh? Good on him ...
“Wtf has happened to Noel though? A once interesting and funny guy has turned into a bitter old man.”
A Twitter user also questioned Gallagher’s plan of attack.
They wrote: “Noel Gallagher – struggling to win a ‘War Of Words’ with Lewis Capaldi, so decides the best plan of action is to insult an entire country.
“Aye, Noel, that’ll work.”
Former Oasis co-star Liam, meanwhile, announced that he “adored” Scotland after being asked about his brother’s remarks on social media.
“I f***ing adore Scotland,” he said.

Having panned Noel for his comments, Scots on social media welcomed his brother’s affection.
“I feel I can speak on behalf of everyone, but Scotland adores you. The sound of a generation,” one replied.
Another added: “Unlike your daft brother apparently.”
“Good man,” one reply read.
One Scot, sharing an image of a booking confirmation for a Liam Gallagher gig, responded to the remarks on Twitter with the comment: “He insulted our whole nation ... good luck Noel wi a Glesga gig.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
