ENGLAND drew 3-3 with Germany in their final match ahead of this winter's World Cup finals.

Pressure had been mounting on manager Gareth Southgate after the country's unexpected relegation to section B of the Nations League.

It looked like Friday's loss to Italy would be followed up with another defeat to the Germans at Wembley with the visitors 2-0 up and cruising midway through the second-half.

However, a comeback from the Three Lions saw the English take a late lead.

Their would be a share of the spoils in the final A3 group game, though, with Germany levelling towards the death.

İlkay Gündoğan and Kai Havertz are two players who are very familiar names south of the border.

And it was the Manchester City and Chelsea stars who made the home team pay not long after the break.

Gündoğan slotted from from 12-yards after VAR awarded the visitors a penalty just five-minutes into the second-half.

A short while after, and several Germany chances later, Havertz scored a peach from distance as the attacking midfielder found Nick Pope's top corner.

Southgate's men did rally, though. Luke Shaw was an unlikely scorer at the back post after some brilliant work by Jude Bellingham.

They would score a quickfire equaliser minutes later as Mason Mount stroked home with a beautiful curling finish on the edge of the area.

Against the odds, they took the lead after earning a penalty of their own heading into the final ten-minutes. Harry Kane dispatched with ease as he sent the home crowd wild.

That wasn't to be the end of the scoring though, as Germany completed the stunning six-goal thriller as Havertz capitalised on an error from Pope to tap home from close-range.

England are among the favourites to win the World Cup in Qatar.

While a point tonight is far from a disaster, dropping into section B of the Nations League is hardly the most ideal preparation.
