JOHN MCGINN has branded Tuesday's Nations League closer against Ukraine as a cup final.
Scotland go into the match top of the group and needing just a point in Poland to secure top spot.
With pole position would come promotion to the A section in the next edition of the Nations League alongside Europe's elite.
It would also bring around the guarantee of a play-off spot in Euro 2024 qualification and could also earn a spot in Pot 2 in Euro 2024 standard qualifying.
And McGinn insists the Scotland squad are fully aware of what is at stake as they head to take on Ukraine.
He said: "It will be professional, we will do what we can to recover.
"It's another tough ask on Tuesday but it's a Cup final.
"We know we need at least a point to top the group and we know the implications of getting that result.
"We are all looking forward to the game and we will prepare properly."
And team-mate Jack Hendry has insisted Scotland will go for the win against Ukraine even if a draw is enough to win the group.
The centre-back netted the crucial equaliser against Ireland at Hampden and has assured fans he and his team-mates will go for the win against Ukraine instead of trying to hold out for a point.
Citing the recent run of impressive results for the national team, Hendry commented: "I think tonight we only needed a point as well but we didn't have that kind of mentality.
"We wanted to win the game and it'll be the same on Tuesday we'll be going Poland to play Ukraine and looking for the three points again.
"We've got good momentum just now and we want to keep that up."
