Glasgow Clan defenceman Cody Sol has called on the Purple Army to roar them on to the play-off finals.
Malcolm Cameron’s team have to overcome Cardiff Devils in the two-legged quarter finals this week to book their place in Nottingham with Clan’s home leg taking place on Sunday, face off 6pm.
And the towering D-man believes the fans can be every bit as important when it comes to needing that extra energy that could help them over the line.
“It’s the sort of games where the fans can really play their part,” he said. “It’s a total cliche, but it’s true and everywhere we’ve gone this season, the Purple Army have been with us all the way.
“I spoke to some fans earlier this week and they’re really excited about it. We have a great crowd and the more they come out and make themselves loud, the more energy we get from them.
“We’ve been through much together as a team this season and we’ve bonded as a group and as a family, you could say, so to make the final four would be huge for us.
Sol and his team-mates have been working all week in preparing to face the Devils, who finished third in the final standings.
For the 31-year-old, he’s loving have those old and exciting feelings he has when he gets to this time of year and he wants to make sure Clan do everything right.
“Play-offs is the best time of the year,” he added. “Every player who plays want to push themselves a little more in these games.
“It’s a little different to what I’m used to back home with the best of seven, but we’ve had the play-off mindset in the locker room and finished the regular season well with three wins to push ourselves up the table.
“It’s fun now that it’s here and we’ve been prepping all week. It’s nice to get those old feelings back ahead of these games and I can’t wait.
“You can’t leave any stone unturned when preparing for these games and you have to be fully dialled in for it. We had a good push at the end and we’re confident with the team we have we can get there.
“We’ve had a number of obstacles to get over this year, but for us, to battle through and finish as strongly as we did, it would be nice to get to the final tournament.”
