ZLATKO DALIC has backed his Croatia side to go toe-to-toe with Group D favourites England when they kick-off their Euro 2020 campaign at Wembley.
England and Croatia meet in London on Sunday afternoon in what could be a key clash in determining who finishes top of the table in the coming days.
Scotland and the Czech Republic - who play each other at Hampden on Monday - are also in a competitive section this summer.
Gareth Southgate's side lost to Croatia in the semi-finals of the World Cup three years ago and they will face a stiff test on home soil this time out.
Dalic said: "We have a quality team and a lot of good players and I think we have chosen the best tactics for [the game] and what is best against them.
"We have put together a team that is powerful and potent and aggressive in my opinion.
"We are aware that the danger is coming from all sides because we are playing a strong national team.
"It is important that we try to apply our style of play, of course we will not come here just to defend ourselves.
"The start is very important and we want to start well, I expect a difficult game."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
