KEVIN NISBET says that getting his first goal for Scotland in their draw against The Netherlands was the high point of his football career so far.

The Hibernian forward, whose father was a diehard Tartan Army member and passed away last year, was over the moon to put the Scots ahead just a minute after coming off the substitute’s bench.

And he says that there is more to come from him in a Scotland jersey after breaking his duck in just his second cap.

“It’s great to get that first goal out of the way,” Nisbet said.

“I was delighted because scoring for your country has to be the pinnacle of your career. Thankfully I was able to do it tonight – and hopefully more will come.

“It was a great move for the goal, one-touch stuff from the corner and [Andy Robertson] continuing his run. He put in such a great ball that I was able to just tap it in.

“It happened very quickly but, in situations like that, you just have to get a good connection on the ball – and trust that it’ll hit the back of the net.

“It’s been a great season, a lot of ups and downs on and off the park. But this is another milestone ticked off for me.

“It’s now about me continuing to replicate that performance – and carry on scoring goals for Scotland.”

Nisbet knows he faces a fight to get a starting spot in Steve Clarke’s attack ahead of Lyndon Dykes and Che Adams, but the Hibs man is up for the battle.

“I’m a very confident person, I’ve always said I’d score goals wherever I play and I am doing that,” he said,

“We’ve got Lyndon and Che who can both score goals, so that’s us now got three players who can score goals for Scotland.

“So the manager definitely has options.”
