THE Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal has celebrated a landmark in its fundraising drive after breaking through the £1million barrier for Scotland's biggest Veteran's charity.
RSEA, the brainchild of Gers fan Tom Clark, was launched in 2007 in an effort to raise vital funds for Erskine’s specialist care of Veterans and their families.
The group were named Volunteer Fundraising Group of the Year from the Institute of Fundraising Scotland in 2011 and have the support of Ibrox legends from through the years as fans continue to do their bit for Scotland's Armed Forces.
Richard Gough: “The generosity of the Rangers support towards our armed forces are second to none and what the RSEA have done in raising £1 million for our ex-servicemen and women who are in the care of Erskine is truly inspiring. I am sure the team at RSEA will not be sitting back on their laurels and are already planning how to keep the donations coming in. Their actions speak louder than any words can.”
Ian Ferguson: "Since emigrating to Australia, the progress and tireless fundraising efforts of all involved with the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal has been a source of real pride for both myself and my family. It remains a rich honour to be a patron of such a great organisation, which continues to go above and beyond to help the real heroes in our society.”

Lee Wallace: “As a patron of the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal, I would like to thank the Rangers support for their endless backing of this cause. The Rangers’ supporters are like no other and this milestone, of reaching £1 million for Erskine’s Veterans, simply hammers home their generosity and kindness when it comes to caring about those that need it most. I am so proud to have played a small part in this success and look forward to working with the RSEA for many years to come.”
Dave Smith: “Having been involved with the Rangers Supporters Erskine Appeal from the very beginning, the success of all involved has continually blown me away. The RSEA has become ingrained in the Rangers family over the past 13 years and continues to go from strength to strength. Raising over £1 million goes beyond all of our wildest dreams but what a fabulous amount of cash to raise for our Veterans.”

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
