CONOR HAZARD 6: The youngster deserves huge credit for two penalty saves that made him the hero of the shootout, especially after a hugely shaky display during the match. Doesn’t mask deficiencies of his display overall, but held his nerve when it mattered.

KRISTOFFER AJER 7: Deployed at right-back once again and bombed up and down the line in first half. Was skinned by White for Boyce goal, and less of an influence after break, but showed bottle to step up and slam home winning penalty.

CHRIS JULLIEN 5: Huge mix-up with Duffy gave Ginelli a wonderful opportunity to level. Failed to dominate Boyce.

SHANE DUFFY 5: Nuisance in Hearts area and won penalty as he headed off Berra’s arm. Caught under ball for Boyce goal though, and lack of communication with Jullien almost handed Hearts equaliser.

GREG TAYLOR 7: Given nod over Laxalt and got forward well, always offering himself on the left. Takes stick for final ball at times, but was on the money more often than not.

SCOTT BROWN 7: Captain restored to line-up at expense of Soro and swaggered around the pitch in first half. Second half was a different story as he struggled to stem Hearts momentum. Attacked ball to force Griffiths goal though.

CALLUM MCGREGOR 6: Showed some nice bursts from midfield at times but failed to put stamp on the game.

RYAN CHRISTIE 7: Almost went from hero to villain. Opened up his body and produced a stunning, curling finish into the top corner to open scoring, but had penalty saved in shootout before being bailed out by Hazard.

DAVID TURNBULL 7: Set-piece delivery caused all sorts of problems, with Celtic winning penalty from typically vicious in-swinging corner. Lovely touches, but hooked for Rogic after Hearts drew level.

MOI ELYOUNOUSSI 6: Some nice runs in behind but lacked final ball. Some neat play but wasn’t the goal threat that he has been of late.

ODSONNE EDOUARD 7: Not so short of confidence anymore. Belief epitomised as he produced Panenka penalty past former college Gordon, but could have had a hat-trick if he was more clinical.

SUBSTITUTES

TOM ROGIC 5: On to change course of game after Hearts levelled and almost nicked it at end of extra-time.

DIEGO LAXALT 5: On for last eight minutes of normal time and picked up where Taylor left off.

MIKEY JOHNSTON 4: On at start of extra time and had some nice flashes.

LEIGH GRIFFITHS 6: Thought he had sealed quadruple Treble with typically predatory goal, but Hearts had other ideas.

ISMAILA SORO 4: On to help see out extra-time, but Hearts had other ideas.
