STEVEN GERRARD has thanked former Rangers chairman Dave King and current Ibrox supremo Douglas Park for their support as boss and vowed to repay the backing of his board.
The 40-year-old is in his third campaign as manager having been appointed in the summer of 2018 and he has had a transformative impact on and off the park at Ibrox.
Rangers have made considerable strides in European competition in recent times but have yet to end their long wait for domestic silverware as they bid for a first league title in a decade this term.
King was the driving force behind the move to bring Gerrard to Glasgow two-and-a-half years ago and relations between the dugout and the boardroom continue to strengthen now that Park is the main figurehead at Ibrox.
Rangers posted their financial results for the year ending June 30, 2020 on Friday night and Gerrard has spoken of his gratitude at the backing he has received once again.
Gerrard said: “We continue to implement changes to the Club, ensuring that we are mindful of small margins. We are focused upon improving every single facet of this Club.
“Be assured that we are leaving no stone unturned and continue to strive to be the very best in every single part of our football department. Improvements have been made to our medical, scouting, analysis, and performance areas.
“Although the improvements to the tunnel and changing area are visually pleasing, they also signify our attention to detail and hunger to set the standard in everything we do at Rangers.
“These changes can only happen if our Board are willing to inject finance and resources into the football department. I am very grateful to the Board for their ongoing support, as always, and we will continue to strive to repay this with results on the field.
“The past year has seen several significant changes which have had a positive impact upon how we operate as a management team.
“I am personally grateful to Dave King for his support and assistance since becoming Rangers Manager. Dave has had a significant impact upon Rangers, his legacy will live on well after his departure as Chairman.
“I am very pleased that Douglas Park has taken over as Chairman. Douglas’ reputation in business is unrivalled whilst his passion for this football club is evident to anyone who speaks to him.
“I know that Rangers have a man in charge who will do what is right for Rangers and our support.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
