AC MILAN striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not known for his modesty, so perhaps it's no surprise that he reckons Celtic supporters 'deserve' to see him in the flesh.
The Swedish superstar and his team-mates will jet into Glasgow for Thursday night's Europa League clash with the Premiership champions, with the game to be played behind closed doors due to coronavirus restrictions.
Ibrahimovic's stellar career has seen the striker turn out at some of the world's greatest stadia, with the forward insisting that Parkhead is up there with the best in Europe.
At the age of 39, this could end up being his last trip to Celtic Park - but the former Ajax, Barcelona and PSG striker hopes he will get to experience a packed-out Parkhead once again before he hangs up his boots.
He told the Daily Record: “Celtic is one of the great atmospheres and great stadiums of Europe. Zlatan deserves to play in front of the Celtic fans and the Celtic fans deserve to be able to see Zlatan play live.
“I have played in a full Celtic stadium before and I wanted to experience it again.
“With the way the world is at the moment that is not going to be possible - but maybe I will get another chance again.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
