STEVEN GERRARD is confident Rangers can build on their opening day win at Aberdeen when they take to an empty Ibrox on Sunday.
The Gers kicked off their campaign with an important three points last weekend as Ryan Kent netted the only goal of the game.
St Mirren are the first visitors to Ibrox in Premiership action this term but there won't be the usual fanfare to greet Gerrard and his players.
“Certainly in the league it’s been a long time since we played at Ibrox," Gerrard said.
“We’ve had some preparation games there already this season with Coventry and Motherwell, but it’s been some time since we played a competitive league match.
“The circumstances are not ideal, it’s not what we want.
“There is nothing better than a full Ibrox when the fans are behind us.
“It is what it is and we have to accept the situation in the current climate.
“We just have to get on with things and we want to put in a good performance and get a good result which the fans will be happy with.
“It’s all about building on the Aberdeen result and performance and trying to make it six out of six. That’s the plan.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
