RANGERS starlet Robby McCrorie has signed a new contract extension at Ibrox.
The 22-year-old will now remain with Rangers for the next three years until 2023.
McCrorie enjoyed a successful loan spell last season at Livingston FC where he gained his first experience of the Scottish Premiership.
He has previously played for Berwick Rangers, Greenock Morton and Queen of the South during developmental loans.
Goalkeeping coach, Colin Stewart outlined his delight at McCrorie penning a contract extension, explaining: “Robby has progressed season-by-season as he has risen through the ranks of our Academy into the first-team set up. He has enjoyed several successful loan spells which have played a key role in his development.
“Each loan spell has allowed him to develop his physical and mental strength as he has faced every challenge set before him with determination and hard work. He has a very bright future and will continue to develop into a top quality ‘keeper.
“His experience at under-age international level has assisted in his progress and I am very excited to see him grow from strength to strength in the incoming years. We are working on the next stage in Robby’s development plan now that his contract has been extended. It is our strong desire that he continues to experience top level games in the incoming season.”
McCrorie added: “It means a lot and I am buzzing it has been done. I first joined the club when I was turning eight years-old and I am happy that the journey is continuing.
“It means everything to me and my family. Every day I come in, being the Rangers goalkeeper is always in the back of my mind and it is why I work as hard as I can to give myself the best opportunity.
“And if it does happen, I’ll always want more after that. I’ll never settle – even if I get my debut, I’ll always keep pushing.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
