THOMAS BUFFEL hopes Rangers can reap the rewards of the Ibrox factor when they face Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.
The Light Blues qualified for the last 16 with a memorable win over Braga as they came from 2-0 down at home to clinch a first leg victory and then see the job out as Ryan Kent netted in Portugal.
Steven Gerrard's side haven't had their troubles to seek domestically in recent weeks but now have a last eight berth in their sights if they can overcome the Bundesliga giants.
Buffel was part of the squad that qualified for the Champions League knockout rounds under Alex McLeish and has backed the Ibrox crowd to play their part on a huge night of European action.
He said: "At Ibrox, everything is possible and every player that comes to play there gets a shock because the crowd is so onto you and they really support their team.
"A lot of teams have come to trouble there and it will be a challenge for Bayer Leverkusen. The fans can make a big impact on the game.
"I have seen a few Rangers games and Steven Gerrard always has the team set up well and is always very prepared.
"They have some good players, a good mixture of physicality and experience and some young players that can bring some freshness to the team. I think there is a good balance.
"Can they get a result? Well, why not?"
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
