RYAN CHRISTIE says he feels as if he is going to score every time he steps onto the pitch for Celtic after bagging the opener against Hearts at Tynecastle.

Christie took his tally for the season to 18 goals for club and country with a well-taken goal from 20 yards to settle Celtic down after a frantic start to the match in Edinburgh.

He refused to be drawn on whether or not he is meeting his own personal targets for the season with his hot goalscoring form, but the attacker admitted that he feels confident of finding the net in every match at present.

“It’s my job as an attacking player to score and create goals, especially playing in this team with the players I have around me and the football we are playing," Christie said.

‘I’m happy to score again but it started with me tackling James (Forrest) and he was not too happy about that. I’ve not seen it back so I don’t know if it went through the defender’s legs.

“I know going into any game that I’m going to get one or two chances, and it then falls to me to take them. Luckily enough, right now they seem to be going in.

“I did set a target [for the season] but I’m not telling you! I keep getting asked that, but if I get a couple more before the break I’ll be happy.”

Christie may not be too keen to reveal his personal targets, but he was delighted that the team as a whole remained on track to meet their own aim of opening up an eight point gap on Rangers come the winter break.

"I’m very happy with that tonight," he said. "We knew coming into the game it was going to be very hard especially in the first 10 or 15 minutes. We knew they were going to come at us with energy and enthusiasm and we would have to ride out the storm at Tynecastle.

"We did that well and then we started being more direct and it paid off. The second half wasn't a great spectacle but we got the win.

"We know the games before the winter break are huge and the manager has drilled it into us that we need to have that winning mentality. We were happy to get the win at a tough venue but now we have another tough game coming up this weekend [against Aberdeen].

"We are very focussed on ourselves right now. If we win the onus is on everyone else. That’s all we can do. The pressure is on everyone else. We’ve got three massive games from now to the break and we want three wins and nine points. That would put us in a good place."
