Craig Gordon 5
Recovered from one slack goal-kick that he placed directly at the feet of Ciprian Deac on the edge of the box. Little chance after being left exposed at the goal but caught out entirely with Damjan Djokovic’s second.
Moritz Bauer 6
In and out of the game. One early block as Cluj were dominating and then put one decent second-half cross onto the head of Griffiths.
Christopher Jullien 5
Lucky to escape sanction for a number of first-half fouls which would have ruled him out of whoever Celtic get in Monday’s draw. No surprise when he was hooked at the break to save him from himself.
Nir Bitton 6
Got Celtic’s first shot of the night on target and put in a fairly industrious shift at the heart of Celtic’s defence.
Boli Bolingoli 5
Sloppy. Culpable at both Cluj goals and not a night in which he offered anything that might suggest more regular involvement.
Olivier Ntcham 6
Deployed in Scott Brown’s role but never quite managed to get a real foothold.
Scott Robertson 6
Debut for the teenager who has been at the club since the age of eight. No nerves on show and the 18-year-old will benefit hugely from exposure to Europa League football.
Scott Sinclair 6
Absence has been notable this season given his stats but it wasn’t a night when he got the opportunity to showcase that prowess in front of goal. Never managed to be a force.
Lewis Morgan 6
Back to a more familiar role after a difficult afternoon of playing up front on his own during Sunday’s League Cup final. Still didn’t managed to impose himself.
Mikey Johnston 7
Looked like Celtic’s most likely source of a goal. One arching effort of note that curled just wide of the target on the cusp of the interval after quick feet on the edge of the box.
Leigh Griffiths 6
Back in the fold and had the job of holding the ball up. One deft touch to bring the ball out of the air and a second-half header that came close. Still not up to speed but a full 90 minutes will work in his favour.
Kristoffer Ajer 5
Inevitable change when he took over from Jullien at the break.
Vakoun Bayo 5
Took over from Morgan. One header off target after being teed up by Griffiths
Karamoko Dembele 5
Kid with the big reputation took another step when he became the youngest ever Celt to play in Europe. Never really manage to make his mark.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
