THE last time Theresa May visited Berlin to meet Angela Merkel, shortly after she arrived she was locked inside her car for a short time as the German chancellor awkwardly waited.

It came a day after a massive U-turn and was seen as yet another symbolic gaffe in the tenure of the current Prime Minister.

Since then, May has performed so many U-turns that she resembles a tipsy dad-of-three at a fair running around a poll 10 times before trying to take a penalty past a washed-up former goalkeeper.

And now she's back in Berlin, for more Brexit talks with Merkel, and again her arrival symbolises her current situation.

After two years of the German chancellor reiterating that May's deal cannot be renegotiated, the Prime Minister arrived in Berlin to be greeted by ... no-one.

In the end May re-appears with Merkel to perform the customary handshake for the cameras.
