The inside story of Ian Blackford’s resignation
I like Flynn. I’ve often watched him in Parliament, he is a good orator and can make his opponents sweat.
He definitely is not the Mr Nice Guy. Perhaps the time was right for a change.

Well, Ian Blackford has nevertheless been the most engaging and entertaining statesman representing any of the parties in the House of Commons these past few years. Impressing members on both sides of the House, regularly upstaging the charlatan Johnson in particular, and much appreciated by the 100,000 or so viewers who regularly tune in to the live parliament channel.
Scottish nationalism needs a strong and eloquent voice in that place, whether his successor is Stephen Flynn, Joanna Cherry or another.

It’s not the who that’s important but the what and when.
The new leader needs to make the chamber a campaigning ground. If the object remains to try to embarrass this government into acquiescence, then we know that these scurrilous fascist scumbags never will be. SNAFU.
We’ve got to be vocal, protest and get under the skin of this facile and futile process, to the point of walking out and creating the crisis needed for change.
We need a tiger, not a cuddly boy.
Is Flynn up to this? Can he fly against Westminster’s collective disdain for Scotland and Scots?

Frankly, I hope there will be a challenger to Stephen Flynn because that’s the democratic thing to do.
I’d like to see Joanna Cherry take the role, but she possibly doesn’t have the support of her colleagues. They certainly didn’t seem to demur when she lost her frontbench post.

Royal Mail workers deliver an essential service and deserve support
Modernisation is Tory-speak for running a coach and horses through terms and conditions.
Additionally, workers’ rights have been and are being attacked by previous and the current Conservative government.
And all this time the rich get richer. I am in full support of all strikers.
