The National:

THROUGHOUT the pandemic, airline operators have made their distaste for the UK Government’s approach to their industry perfectly clear.

But now, one budget plane operator has taken things to the next level.

In a shocking takedown of Boris Johnson’s government sent from the official Ryanair Twitter account, the company gets stuck into the Downing Street pandemic parties row.

The Irish airline wrote: “The UK Covid Alert Level has been increased from Level 3 to Level 4” – next to an image demonstrating what’s supposed to happen at each level of the alert system.

But rather than social distancing, mask wearing or lockdowns, the graphic goes through different stages of Downing Street parties.

So for Level 1, where Covid is no longer present, the response is: “Small gathering with wine and cheese.”

Level 2, when transmission is low, equals “tinsel, party hats, PM hosting pub quiz”.

Level 3, with the virus in general circulation, there should be “booze, snogging, Gove in charge of refreshments”.

Level 4 – which is the UK’s actual alert level as of Sunday – sees “Boris topless, asking Thatcher’s portrait if she comes here often”. What an image.

Finally level 5, where the NHS risks being overwhelmed, reads: “Full on rave. Everyone off their tits. Jacob crying in the corner asking for nanny.”

It’s a stunning post to come from a corporate account and one which demonstrates how a lot of people are feeling about this shambolic government.

The post comes after Ryanair joined a number of other airlines and travel firms attacking the UK Government over its “haphazard” approach to coronavirus rules in their sector.

In a letter to Johnson, the chief executives of seven companies accused the Prime Minister of breaking his promises to fix the expensive cost of PCR tests for travellers.

When even the corporations are coming for the Prime Minister, you know it’s not looking good …
