BORIS Johnson’s former spin doctor has told how his old boss wanted to send Rishi Sunak a meme calling him a “c*nt” when the ex-chancellor dramatically quit.

Guto Harri, who served as the former prime minister’s director of communications, described Sunak’s resignation as the “great betrayal of all time”.

Speaking on LBC’s new Unprecedented podcast, Harri said he received a video from Johnson in the days after Sunak quit, parodying Hall and Oates’s song You Make My Dreams.

The video mimics the song’s intro, but replaces the first line (“what I want”) with “you’re a c*nt”.

Harri said: “Rishi walked out. Didn't even tell Boris he was going to go. Basically, he went public with a resignation. And a few days later, Boris found a little video on the internet that expressed what he wanted to say to Rishi.

“He didn't send it, but he sent it to me and said, ‘thinking of sending this to Rishi.’”

The former spinner added: “So, there you have it. If you really want to know how Boris Johnson felt about Rishi Sunak in the immediate aftermath of his toppling and the great betrayal of all time as he sees it, there you have it.”

Sunak’s resignation triggered – along with that of former health secretary Sajid Javid – a wave of exits from Johnson’s government which ultimately forced him to resign as prime minister.
