MANY people will have noticed Nicola Sturgeon wearing a daffodil along with many other MSPs at FMQs on Wednesday.

But why are they wearing them and what do they symbolise?

What are the daffodils for?

These pins are part of the charity Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal”.

The funds raised in the appeal will help to provide care for those living with terminal illnesses, and help the charity push for a better end of life care for all.

Marie Curie provide care and support for those living with any kind of terminal illness, including cancer, dementia and heart disease.

What do daffodils symbolise?

Daffodils are a symbol of spring and symbolise new beginnings and rebirth.

On the Marie Curie website, it reads: "They're a symbol of spring and symbolise new beginnings and rebirth.

"They're a positive, life-affirming symbol, with a bright and joyful yellow colour."
