The Glasgow Times asked the organisation why the display has been axed, but no explanation was provided in their response.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Life said: “There is loads to see and do in Glasgow all year round, especially in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

"We’re focused on welcoming people to enjoy the wonderful entertainment, nightlife and brilliant restaurants, bars, shops and hotels the city offers which support jobs and the visitor economy.”

It's the third year in a row that the show will not be held, due to COP26 last year and Covid-19 the year before.
