VALLEYFIELD Children’s Gala will return on Saturday after a two year break.
Fun and games will be on offer at the event which takes place in the village swing park.
Laura McGurk, gala committee secretary, said: “It has been a challenge this year because we have not been able to fundraise for two years. Usually fundraisers are really well attended but we haven’t been able to do that. We have been doing raffles and making up hampers and selling tickets for that. We did an Easter event and the surrounding villages are great at helping and getting behind us too.”
Valleyfield Community Council helped with some costs too. There will be funfair rides, inflatables and climbing walls, an eating challenge, balloon modeller and face painter with wristbands, costing £10, giving unlimited use of the attractions between midday and 4pm.
“We didn’t want to put the cost up this year because everyone is in the same situation,” explained Laura. “We also decided not to have a parade. Usually we would but we thought with it being the first year back, we need to try and keep it simple for the kids to enjoy. The weather is looking good just now. The kids are looking forward to it – they have been coming up and asking us when it is – and we are all really excited for it to be back.”
