A LIFE saving device has been installed at a Dunfermline church.
A defibrillator has been purchased and put up at the St Andrew’s Erskine Church thanks to donations from the congregation and part funding from the St John Scotland charity.
Church elder Carolyn Simpson said it had been a joint effort to get the equipment put in at the place of worship on Robertson Road.
“We had spoken about it before and we contacted the St John Scotland charity. They were part funding if you could say what it was for and if it was for the local community,” she said.
“St John’s part funded it for us although we gave them the donations we had collected. It has already been installed thanks to the rotary club and is on the outside of the church building ready to be used.”
St John Scotland are hosting a free ‘Learn how to save a life’ training session at the church on Monday August 15 between 7pm and 9pm where people can learn CPR skills and how to use a defibrillator.
It can make all the difference if someone suffers from a cardiac arrest.
“We have advertised it for the whole community – anyone is welcome,” added Carolyn. “We are hoping for quite a good attendance.
“We want people to know that it is for them. They might not come up to the church door so may not see it.”
