TEN restaurants have been shortlisted to be named Scotland’s best of the year as part of the inaugural Uber Eats awards ceremony.
The delivery app is hosting the UK and Ireland Restaurant of the Year Awards with Bake Off’s Prue Leith taking on the role of top judge. The venue that wins the title will secure £10,000 to expand their business.
Shortlisted nominees were nominated by members of the public and then whittled down using their ratings on the Uber Eats app.
Scotland’s smaller towns and rural areas are not represented on the shortlist, given Uber Eats tends to operate in bigger towns and cities.
Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite until June 16.
Prue Leith, cook and TV presenter, said: “Opening your own restaurant is desperately hard work, nerve-wracking and expensive. But there are few things as exciting and satisfying.
“I’m delighted to work with Uber Eats to crown their first Restaurant of the Year and shine a light on some extraordinary people and restaurants. They are the future of the industry. I’m looking forward to discovering pioneers across the UK and Ireland and of course to eating some amazing food.”

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
