THE National has launched a series of Leaders’ Interviews ahead of Scotland’s local elections.

Before Scots go to the polls on May 5, we will be presented filmed interviews with each of the country’s main party leaders.

On April 27 we kick off with Scottish LibDem leader Alex Cole-Hamilton, before Alex Salmond joins us later in the week.

Scottish Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon will also be joining us – however Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross and Labour’s Anas Sarwar have yet to confirm their attendance.

Clips from the interviews will be shared on social media, however the full-length videos will only be available to watch for subscribers.

National editor Callum Baird said: "Our top team of journalists have been preparing their questions for Scottish party leaders ahead of the local elections.

"We'll be covering a wide range of issues in this fantastic series that we hope you'll find valuable.

"You'll be able to find write-ups in the daily newspaper, and we'll have the full videos available online.

"Plus, we'll be posting clips across our social media channels as we know our readers value being able to absorb and share this content in the way that suits them best."
