SCOTLAND is set to go to the polls to elect a new batch of local councillors on May 5 - but when can we expect the results?

During 2021’s Holyrood election the vote count took place over two days, with constituencies declaring winners at various times, due to the pandemic and limits on the number of people allowed at each count. 

But now, with all pandemic restrictions lifted, we should see results come in a lot faster.

With voters going to the polls on Thursday, May 5, results should trickle through on Friday, May 6.
