THE Spectra festival of light is adding an art installation to its line-up with the help of a Scottish university.
The event, which will take place at Castlegate in Aberdeen city centre in February, will host Together, supported by new sponsorship from the University of Aberdeen.
The art installation has been created by Lucid Creates and is based around stories from the local community, has been added to the line-up for the festival.
A Spectra spokesperson said: “Together was created as a reaction to the isolation of lockdown, and this huge pavilion-like open space is designed as a place in which communities can come together to celebrate their unity and uniqueness, and this is the first time ever that it has come north of the Border.
“Filled with words, light and sound and inspired in 2022 by Scotland’s Year of Stories, Together comprises a structure built of giant, ribbon-like rings, that creates a space imbued with experiences, thoughts, and memories.”
The words featured in the project will be made up with the thoughts of students from Aberdeen University.
The deadline for submissions is January 17.
The spokesperson added: “Spectra lights up the winter nights with breath-taking installations, giving locals and tourist alike the perfect opportunity to discover the city in a new way.”
Marischal College, Upperkirkgate, Schoolhill, Marischal Square and Aberdeen Art Gallery will all host events throughout the festival.
Spectra is an Aberdeen City Council event by the production company Curated Place and was first launched in 2014.
