THE fabulous Derby Lane restaurant in the heart of the Finnieston strip recently won a coveted industry award for sustainability thanks to the ongoing and committed work of climate change activist and owner Sophie Taylor. They have launched their latest initiative where diners have the option to add £1.23 to their bill and this will plant a tree. Customers can also use an interactive map to see their trees and the families they have helped. Drink local, act global with Derby Lane’s 123 plant a tree.

COLLABORATION, co-working and co-operation are the name of the game when it comes to climate change and Finnieston has a brand new pop-up hub open during COP26, that is offering co-working, collaboration and coffee and cocktails – with a focus on global, sustainable and ethically sourced produce. All wines are organic and biodynamic and they have local interesting soft drinks. They are also featuring beers from just alog the road. The pop up is named 75.5 and is in an industrial, historic red brick building on Houldsworth Street. Look for the lights and step up into a great day or night. A full hosts of events are happening. Open from 12-12 until November 25. Follow them on instagram @75point5steps.

THERE has to be a pop up late night bar or it ain't Finnieston. For the two weeks of COP26, 1126 Argyle Street is meeting your needs and doing good deeds. Locally sourced ethical produce and the music will be great. The bar has a wee relationship with one of the dear green place’s greatest late night lounge and jigging joints. Pitch up this week. Five until late.

THE Hidden Lane Organic Brewery is a gem in the coolest of little streets in the coolest of areas. A female-led, local, ethical spot. Keep an eye on the socials for pop-ups in the their event space and taproom. Offering refillable growlers to take home, they also have a beer school. Get that Christmas present bought! Tables are available this weekend, but they go like cold beer on a hot day.

THE Kelvingrove Cafe is yet another sublime place to sip a wine or drink a cold beer whilst hearing some hot tunes. It’s everything you want a great bar to be, just dark enough, just cool enough, just hot enough and with the friendliest most knowledgeable of staff. Their old-fashioned game can’t be beaten and there is a special menu of contemporary twists on the classic.

THE Finnieston, is a bit of a home from home for me and the owners are amongst my favourite people, they do local and global like no-one else and their fairylight-strewn garden is the best place to grab a gin and some seafood. They have a little bit of a deluxe special of two cocktails made solely from recycling surplus ingredients from the kitchen. A coal fire and cosiness are what we need as the nights draw in.
