SCOTLAND will see not one but two Comic Cons in 2022 after the convention had to be cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Spring and Autumn events will take over Glasgow's SEC Centre first from March 5-6, 2022 - which will be scaled back with Covid restrictions in place - and then the full extravaganza is due on September 24-25 of 2022.

ACME Scotland is taking over the events from MCM which ran previous cons in the past.

According to ACME, the two events will "allow fans to meet their favourite TV, film and comic book stars, discover new talent in the Artists Alley, take all the photo ops they want on Geek Street with an array of props for fans of all genres, sit back and enjoy panels, or just relax with friends, family and fellow fans".

The full line-up of events will be announced in due course.

ACME Scotland added: "Glasgow has been host to movie sets for various blockbuster film franchises, from Batman, The Flash, Indiana Jones and more, with The Avengers also heading over to Scotland’s shores for Infinity War and Endgame in recent years.

"The cultural draw of the country, and Glasgow in particular, is only growing, and so it remains the perfect home to celebrate fandom in all its many forms."

They added: "The events are built with the fans in mind and - after two years of many event cancellations and postponements - now is the time to look ahead have something to look forward to in the 2022 calendar."

With an array of "unique, creative and engaging fan experiences to enjoy", the convention will cater for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, TV, comics, sci-fi, anime, gaming, manga, wrestling and cosplay.

Sha Nazir, ACME Scotland events producer said: “We’re thrilled to welcome fans back for an unforgettable four-day celebration of pop culture across two weekends in 2022, delivering a slighlty scaled back first show in March with Covid restrictions and a full-scale extravaganza in September, similar to what existing fans know and love.

"We’re excited to welcome you home to Scotland’s greatest show of the year.”

Tickets for the Spring event will go on sale in November and the Autumn event will be on sale in due course.
