SCOTLAND has recorded more than 2600 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the latest data.

A further 2666 positive cases of coronavirus were recorded in the Scottish Government's most recent daily figures with a positivity rate of 10%.

The latest data also shows that there were two further deaths of people who previously tested positive for Covid-19.

This brings the total under the daily measure - of people who died within 28 days of first testing positive - to 8930.

There were 829 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19 yesterday, a fall of 12 on the day before

Of these patients, 45 were in intensive care, a fall of two.

In terms of Scotland's vaccine effort, 4,286,044 people have now received the first jag and 3,877,849 have received their second dose.

The Scottish Government has also begun a roll-out of third "booster" jabs, but data on these is not yet available.
