SCOTLAND has recorded a further 29 deaths of coronavirus patients in 24 hours, according to the latest figures.

Data released today (October 14) shows that the number of deatsh under this measure - of people who died within 28 days of first testing positive - now stands at 8878.

The figures also show that 2639 new cases of Covid-19 were reported over the past 24 hours.

This represents 7.0% of the 40,239 new tests for Covid-19 that reported results over the same time period.

Across Scotland yesterday there were 908 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19. Of these, 50 were in intensive care.

In terms of the vaccination effort, 4,275,208 people have received their first jag, and a total of 3,871,406 people have also received their second dose.
