I AGREE wholeheartedly with David Pratt that solidarity amongst independence supporters is paramount, but I also applaud him in his exasperated plea for our 45 MPs to be more energised, to get stuck in and show that they care, and aren’t just enjoying the trappings of fleeting fame.

I used to think Sinn Fein MPs missed the point by refusing to sit in Westminster, believing that surely they should attend and become a real thorn to whichever party was in power. However, seeing such lacklustre inactivity amongst our representatives makes me wonder whether our cohort wouldn’t be better off in their constituencies if they aren’t going to wreak the havoc in the House.

And then, on Thursday, a glimmer of hope. Labour’s Dawn Butler stood up and called Johnson out for the corrupt charlatan and liar he is, and was banished from parliament for it. So, here’s an idea: why does each and every one of our SNP contingent not get on their feet and call Johnson a liar and a fraud and accept their expulsion like a badge of courage?

If each and every opposition MP was to do likewise, the sham of our democracy would become very apparent and Johnson would soon be ejected by his own party, who would be forced to see him in all his nakedness as a complete and utter liability.

So come on SNP MPs, show us that you are bravehearts and not fainthearts.

IT’S time the SNP put a limit on the number of times an MP can be re-selected. If they have made no meaningful contribution to regaining our nation’s sovereignty in two parliamentary terms, they should be replaced with a candidate who realises what the purpose of being in Westminster is, and dedicates his/her time to achieving it.
