NICOLA Sturgeon has sought to deliver a boost to the Yes movement as she urged Scots to get involved in the independence campaign.

The First Minister took to social media to promote a new SNP video guide to digital campaigning.

The online tool provides “useful, informative digital resources to help with campaigning".

The party encouraged social media users to share the guide to help build “a better, independent Scotland is in your hands”.

Sturgeon promoted the video on Twitter, urging Scots to get involved in the Yes campaign.

The Scottish Government has vowed to hold a second referendum in the first half of the parliamentary term, by the end of 2023.

The First Minister has stressed that the vote will take place once the coronavirus crisis has passed.

But some members of the Yes movement have complained that the Government is not moving fast enough.

SNP MP Joanna Cherry recently warned that "things have gone awfully quiet on the independence front since the election".

The party has sought to encourage independence activists with new campaigning materials.

Last week, SNP president Michael Russell released a new leaflet, A Referendum For Recovery.

The eight-page document includes stats and arguments in favour of independence.

The National:

Russell said: “As we look ahead to recovery from the pandemic, and the type of country we want to build after Covid, it’s certain that we can’t let a UK Tory government decide on that for us.

“Our case has to demonstrate a relentless optimism and hope, grounded in the reality that shows how well an independent Scotland could do, freed of the UK Union.

“To help with that, we’re producing a series of handy materials – including this detailed, eight-page leaflet which includes vital facts, stats and arguments for Scottish independence.”

He added: “This is a great thing to share as widely as possible. Start by sharing the link with at least five of your friends who you think might be open to the discussion or who you believe need to know the facts.

“This summer, let’s harness all our positive energy into conversations with the undecided. Remember, if every one of us convinces at least one No voter, the momentum for independence will speed up again. And again, and again.

“If we all stay focused on our goal and find constructive ways to work together, we will win.

“And we need to win – for the future of our country and everyone who lives here.”
