BBC Breakfast was hit with a viewer complaint after they were accused of using an "inaccurate name" to refer to Rangers

The complaint, which was logged in the broadcaster's fortnightly round-up of viewer grumbles, referred to a report on BBC One's morning news show on March 6.

The Glasgow Times understands the report said: "Glasgow Rangers FC is not the same as the club formerly known as Glasgow Rangers FC."

The BBC said it would not comment further on individual complaints.

It was not upheld, along with 24 other objections that reached Stage 2 of the corporation's complaints process. 

Since the liquidation of the company which owned Rangers FC in 2012, the club has been beset by attacks from their Old Firm rivals who claim the club itself ceased to exist.

Glasgow Times:

Some Celtic fans insist there is no Old Firm anymore because of the company's liquidation and refer to the club as Sevco, the former name of the company set up to buy The Rangers Football Club Plc's assets in 2012.
