UFC superstar Conor McGregor has sensationally claimed he held discussions over buying shares in Celtic.
The MMA fighter claims he spoke about purchasing a stake in the club from major shareholder Dermot Desmond.
McGregor has recently been rumoured to be considering buying shares in Premier League giants Manchester Utd and was asked by a supporter on social media if there was truth to the links.
A conversation came up regarding Celtic first to be honest. To acquire shares from Dermot Desmond. I am certainly interested in acquiring a sports team at some stage!

But the Irishman revealed it was the Hoops he was interested in first. And he admitted he would potentially consider making a move in future.
"A conversation came up regarding Celtic first to be honest," he said. "To acquire shares from Dermot Desmond. I am certainly interested in acquiring a sports team at some stage!

Recent reports claim the fighter's net worth to be around £300million after he sold his shares in Proper Twelve Irish whiskey.
McGregor, 32, has been pictured previously wearing a Celtic jersey during training as he prepared for a bout and he revealed his favourite footballer is Kieran Tierney during an interview.
The Notorious previously heaped praise on Celtic fans for unfurling a banner before a big match depicting the fighter's mantra "We're not here to take part, we're here to take over."
