Kieran Tierney could return for Arsenal tomorrow evening to help them into the Europa League final.

The ex-Celtic star picked up an injury on April 3 and has missed all action since then. Granit Xhaka has deputised at left-back, but Mikel Arteta revealed his favoured defender could be in line to return.

KT has trained this week ahead of the second-leg at the Emirates where the Gunners trail 2-1 to Villarreal from the first-leg, though they have an away goal after a narrow defeat.

Arteta hinted that he has not yet made up his mind regarding Tierney's place in the squad for the clash, but he is in contention. The Spanish boss said: "It's been one of the reasons, because of the way we wanted to play and the players around," Arteta explained.

"We have managed to get some clean sheets since he's been playing there and that's something that didn't happen for 13 games. He gives something different to the team."

Cedric, as well as Xhaka, is also an option. "He's been a bit unfortunate because he played some good games as a right back as well," Arteta said. "Then we had the injury of Kieran and he played some as a left back and we were training with him as a left-back.

“We could have given him more opportunities, but it's true that Calum came in and did really well. We are training this afternoon so we will see how everybody is."

The news will be welcome to Steve Clarke and the Tartan Army with Euro 2020 on the horizon. It is now looking more likely the defender WILL be available for the tournament after an initial scare the injury could be worse and require surgery.
