VISITORS to Scotland’s national parks are being urged to act responsibly ahead of the last weekend of level 4 lockdown restrictions.

With pleasant weather expected this weekend, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs is expecting to see a surge in visitor numbers.

Carol Beattie, Stirling Council chief executive, said recent weekends have seen high levels of visitor numbers, with most people parking safely and taking litter home.

“However, some attractions like Balmaha and Rowardennan were still extremely busy and Police Scotland eventually had to close the B837 on Saturday afternoon due to careless parking,” she added.

“That’s a situation we all want to avoid and, sadly, the council also had to hand out over 100 parking tickets to drivers who ignored our repeated messages for people to park safely.”

Those planning a visit are urged to check the park’s social media and website for live parking information, and make sure they have a plan B in case areas are very crowded.
