FANTASTIC, I thought, as Buckingham Palace announced that the funeral for Prince Philip would be Covid-compliant with only 30 people attending – at last the establishment is reading the mood of the nation and the terrible pain many have felt at not being able to attend family funerals and fathers not being present at births.

Then today I learn that 730 military personnel will play and march at Windsor Castle, pallbearers etc will not count and neither will BBC film crews etc.
I should have known better than to believe the establishment could ever have believed themselves subject to the same Covid rules as the rest of us. This has just confirmed that it really is one rule for them and another for us – disgusted.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
