PASSENGERS have been warned to expect travel disruption after a train derailed during overnight testing, prompting the line to be closed.

The incident occurred close to Dalwhinnie train station in the Highlands at about 3.15am last night.

Nobody was injured as the train, which was not a passenger service, derailed.

Network Rail is due to provide updates, but it is currently not known how long it will take to recover the train and reopen the line.

“Customers should check our website, app and social media channels for the latest arrangements before they travel.”
