WHAT a wonderful piece of street political theatre on Wednesday night on BBC Scotland’s Nine. Hopefully somewhere out there in the ether there is a lingering copy of the “when Martin Geissler interviewed George Galloway” video, that will amuse and delight in equal measure. The hilarious reaction to Geissler’s cheeky questions delivered with an impish smile was priceless because Galloway lost it completely. Seasoned politicians know that to get angry on a live interview is a no-no, but someone forgot to tell him.

Saying he had never seen Geissler so animated and instead of asking questions Geissler had launched a tirade against him, he claimed: “If I behaved like that I would have been accused of ranting.” Martin Geissler fired back with a bemused smile that it was because Galloway hadn’t answered his question.

Whatever you think of Galloway, this was better than his antics on Celebrity Big Brother, dressed in a red leotard or pretending to be a cat. Welcome back George – all is forgiven.
