THE SNP are today launching a Digital Weekend of Action to get the word out on why Scotland’s future must be in Scotland’s hands.

The move comes with just 10 weeks to go until the Holyrood election on May 6.

While coronavirus restrictions continue, usual campaigning methods cannot happen, so the party has created a digital leaflet in various sizes and formats optimised for social media and private messaging platforms.

SNP depute leader Keith Brown MSP said: “The election in May will be the most important in the history of the Scottish Parliament. This is our chance to put Scotland’s future in Scotland’s hands – not Boris Johnson’s.

“It will be an election like no other and the pandemic means we must find innovative ways to get our message out to the people – that is why we are launching our Digital Weekend of Action.

“We are calling on our members and supporters to share our digital leaflet with 20 people online to spread the SNP’s message and mission – if we can do that then we can reach up to 2.5 million voters and that would be an extraordinary effort by our activists to get the message across that Scotland needs to put its future into its own hands, not Westminster’s."

He went on: “It is incredibly easy to share on WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat and will be so important to mobilising voters to support the SNP at the election in May.

“Now is the time to focus hearts and minds – and ignore the distractions – independence is within sight and a push between now and May 6 can really help deliver a big SNP victory and make that referendum a reality. So, I am calling on readers of The National to help spread the word too. Scotland’s future as an independent nation depends on people making it both votes to the SNP and returning a big SNP win on May 6.”
