A FURTHER 29 people have died in Scotland after having tested positive for Covid-19, the latest Government statistics show.

The newly released figures also say that 803 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Over that same period, 19,882 new tests for Covid reported results. A total of 4.6% of these were positive, which is below the 5% rate which the World Health Organisation say indicates the virus is under control.

A total of 1154 people in Scotland were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19. 102 of these people were in intensive care.

In terms of the vaccination roll-out, the Government figures say a total of 1,412,643 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 33,473 have received their second dose.

Yesterday, 1,386,152 people had received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. This means 26,491 more people have now been given their first jag.

The 29 deaths from coronavirus registered in the last 24 hours mean a total of 6945 people have died who have tested positive in the previous 28 days as of February 20.

Up to February 14, 9053 deaths have been registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. 35% of Covid-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 58% were in hospitals, and 6% were at home or non-institutional settings (as of 14 February).
