All Under One Banner, like every other Yes group, had to suspend its activities early last year and thus lost all the marches which they had been organising.

AUOB went online and rebounded spectacularly with the meetings that led to the formation of the new national Yes membership organisation Now Scotland.

Now AUOB is to host a series of online Zoom meetings in the run-up to the Holyrood Parliament elections in May, staring this coming Friday, February 19, at 7pm with a meeting entitled Strategies For Independence.

Hosted by Neil Mackay and Suzanne Blackley of AUOB, the meeting will feature guests Marion Plunkett, Grouse Beater, Nathalia Urban and David Henry.

Urban said politics must be made "for the people, so more than ever we need to think of a simple and clear strategy to build an independence movement with a strong popular appeal".

Suzanne Blackley explained: “We will continue to bring these panel discussions into people’s homes during this lockdown period. Time is running out until the May Holyrood election and discussion of how we best move towards independence is of vital importance.”

Neil Mackay said: “It’s crucial that the movement has these regular panel discussions to tune into and engage with during Lockdown. As such we are holding regular Zoom broadcasts as we approach May’s election – which still has the potential to become the independence election."

Essayist and blogger Grouse Beater said he felt slogans such as "independence now" should be avoided as they come across as "alarming" to those who are comfortable with the UK's current constitutional situation.

"Self-governance is the chance of full civil and constitutional rights, not half of them, not foreign policy by proxy, not acceptance of alien policies and laws, but the ability to exercise free will, politically, economically, and culturally - [that is] a huge boost to a nation’s morale and an individual’s confidence," he added.

Plunkett told The National the panel was a "great opportunity for people across Scotland to engage with each other, share ideas and look at how, as a people’s movement, we can organise ourselves for the coming campaign".

Henry said he looked forward to hearing ideas on how to bring together the Yes movement's diverse membership and asked if May 6 couldn't be a turning point.

He went on: "I look forward to discussing the 'Manifesto for Indy', which I and a group of others hopewill form part of the SNP 2021 manifesto. At its core is the fact that when voters place their vote on May 6 they will be voting for the Scottish Parliament to be the only sovereign parliament for the Scottish nation.

"Not only should that central claim be part of the next SNP manifesto, I would encourage other Yes-supporting parties to adopt it in theirs."
