THE rich red earth of the Marchmont Estate is being turned into paint for artworks exploring fertility and the female spirit ahead of a springtime open studios weekend at the historic mansion.

The pieces are being created by Annabel Wightman, one of the artists who have residencies in the Creative Spaces studios and workshops in the grounds of Marchmont House, near Greenlaw, in the Scottish Borders.

Covid restrictions permitting, visitors will be able to meet Wightman and fellow artists, including Endellion Lycett Green, during the open studios weekend on May 8 and 9.

Event details will be posted on marchmonthouse.com
