A THUG held a caulk gun at terrified shop employees.

James Donald, 47, was armed with the item used in DIY at the Co-Op branch in Glasgow’s Argyle Street in May this year.

He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to threatening or abusive behaviour.

Donald also admitted separate charges stealing a jacket and a phone.

The court heard Donald entered the Argyle Street store while drunk in the middle of the afternoon.

Prosecutor Amy Hunter said: “He held the caulk gun and was shouting and swearing at staff saying he was looking for them.

“He threatened staff and followed them around the shop while screaming and shouting.”

Donald was challenged before fleeing the scene.

The hearing was also told Donald was later abusive towards his mother Mary Armstrong at her home in the city’s Maryhill in June.

He shouted and swore at Miss Armstrong, who is a diabetic, yelling she was a “f***ing cow” and “a junkie.”

The court heard Donald stole a friend’s jacket and a stranger’s mobile phone in the city centre on the same day last July.

Sentence was deferred until the end of the month by Sheriff Sean Murphy QC who continued Donald’s remand in custody meantime.
