WITH the traditional November Autumn International fixtures we’ve come to know and love just not possible this year, an alternative has been announced in their place: the Autumn Nations Cup. Here, Lee McKenzie presents live coverage of the opening night of the inaugural competition featuring the exciting clash between Andy Farrell’s Ireland and Wayne Pivac’s Wales at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Children in Need 2020 (BBC1, 7pm)

TO coincide with the appeal’s 40th anniversary, this year’s new-look and socially distanced entertainment extravaganza will be hosted by a new team. The returning Mel Giedroyc, will be joined by Alex Scott, Chris Ramsey and Stephen Mangan, who are all hosting Children in Need for the first time. From Strictly, to EastEnders and Doctor Who, the fundraising spectacular will, as usual, be jam-packed with sketches, performances, music, dance and a few surprises.

Secret Scotland with Susan Calman (C5, 8pm)

SUSAN starts off tonight’s hunt for secrets in Inveraray Bell Tower – home to the second heaviest 10 bell peal in the world. She then ventures off the mainland to the isle of Bute for a privileged look at what is said to be Scotland’s first million-pound home – Mount Stuart House. On the shores of Loch Fyne, she discovers the secrets of oyster cultivation.

Friday on the Farm (C5, 9pm)

HELEN Skelton and Jules Hudson present a final look at life on Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire. Farmers Rob and Dave Nicholson call in an expert hoof trimmer to prepare their Highland cows for an indoor winter, go head to head in a traditional horse-drawn ploughing contest, and get a helping hand when it comes to creating novel ways to keep the farm’s pigs entertained. Elsewhere, JB Gill visits a Surrey vineyard that produces an English sparkling wine to rival traditional French Champagnes.
