A SCOTTISH football club is inviting former players to join in the celebrations as it marks its 75th anniversary.

League Two club Stirling Albion was founded in 1945 and is marking its anniversary with a book charting the club’s history.

It is also asking former players to get in touch and share their stories.

Having already contacted hundreds through social media, Stirling Albion Former Players Association chairman Neil Emslie wants to reach those players who might not be active online.

He said: “There have been more than 300 players contacted via social media but as you can imagine there will be thousands more especially from the older generation whom we would like to reach out to.

“There is also a private group for former players on Facebook of which there are 150 chatting away, with many photographs posted.”

The book, charting the club’s history, is due to be released soon and contains a season-by-season guide as well as every result.

The former players’ association hopes to start a hall of fame, with past heroes being inducted each year.

There will also be regular invitations to former players to attend Forthbank Stadium on match days once Covid abates, so they can meet supporters and hospitality guests, making them still feel a part of the “Binos Family”.

Merchandise due to be released shortly includes the book, a commemorative leisure shirt, mugs, ties and various other items.

Both former players and people interested in pre-ordering the book can get in touch via fpa@stirling albion.info.
