ONE of a series of walks for independence taking place across Scotland to mark the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath and promoting a Digital Covenant is due to reach its finishing point in Inverness tonight.
The Long Walk to Freedom 1320 set off from Eilean Donan in the western Highlands on September 18 and is due in the city sometime after 5pm subject to weather and traffic conditions. Inveryess will welcome the walkers in groups of two, following all Covid-19 restrictions.
The Long Walk to Freedom routes cover every town and city of Scotland, from Eilean Donan down to the Borders. The 1320 participants have averaged 26 miles per day.

They plan to arrive in Inverness via Beauly and Clachnaharry, and to stop for a break outside the Inveryess Hub at 45 Huntly Street at about 5pm. The main welcome event will be held in Falcon Square at 7pm.
After an overnight stay, the walkers will head for Elgin on the next leg of their journey.
There are two main walks taking place at the moment – the 1320-mile route to commemorate the Arbroath anniversary and a 500-mile walk reaching out to the Yes communities and grassroots supporters.
