IT doesn’t matter what age you are, anyone can make a contribution to the cause of independence – but when you are only six the Yes DIY page thinks you deserve a special mention. So step forward Eloise from Skye.

Hugh Ferris resides on the Isle of Skye and is a proud member of the local Yes Skye and Lochalsh group. He wrote to tell us: “My six-year-old daughter Eloise has recently produced a Skye and Lochalsh Indy Calendar for 2021.

“She took all the pictures herself, except the front and back cover which she is in, and she edited the pictures using the free Lightroom app.

“Eloise is a keen amateur photographer and has taken thousands of photos. She helps out with the local Yes stall, leafleting and attends Yes events with her Dad.

“The theme of Eloise’s calendar is ‘Scotland is my country, it belongs to me and I’m going to look after it’. This refers to her response when challenged during Yes leafleting.

“The original idea was just to produce a calendar to send to family in France but things developed and we thought Yes Skye could raise some funds with an independence calendar.

“It was never really meant to make money but people really seem to like it. Eloise just wanted to make a calendar. The response so far has been positive with 88 calendars sold locally so far. The local Yes group have agreed to fund another print run.”
