THE First Minister has confirmed a further 267 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Scotland over 24 hours.
That number accounts for 3.6% of all people tested yesterday, taking the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 23,283.
The First Minister added: "Let me remind you that these are positive cases reported yesterday. Because of the processing backlog I've spoken about in the last couple of days, more of these than normal may be from swabs that have been taken over the past few days."
She said it is clear that cases are rising.
There were three more people in hospital with Covid-19, and no change on the number of patients in intensive care with the virus. That figure remains at six.
Nicola Sturgeon also announced that there has been one further death of a person who had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days.
Provisional health board data showed that of the new cases 105 are in the Greater Glasgow area, 45 are in Lothian, 40 are in Lanarkshire, 16 are in Grampian and 15 are in the Forth Valley.
The remaining 46 cases were spread among the other six mainland health board areas.
